Shoe Contour: Due Oct. 8th

Here are some examples of past student's shoe contours. Remember to vary your line weight and use your nice drawing paper. Keep your pencil sharpened. Also consider the shoes you choose, pick shoes that are complex and good for drawing in contour.

September 26th, Materials

Please be sure to bring your graphite pencils and drawing paper to class on Thursday, September 26th.  We are going to be starting with pencil. 

Homework Assignment #3: Fabric, Due September 24th

 Here are some examples for the third homework assignment, drawing of fabric in charcoal.  It is due Tuesday, September 24th.  Please be sure to address the whole page and really look at the fabric.  Study the folds, draw what you see and don't generalize generic folds.  Make sure to ground the object with a drop shadow.  Please be conscious of craftsmanship.  Take your time. Do not come in with folded assignments, please neatly cut the paper out of the pad, no smudges, and be sure to spray it with fixative.

Homework Assignment #2: Glass due September 17th

This is to be done in vine charcoal on drawing paper. Take up the whole page and put a background of some kind. Ground the object in space and give it weight with a shadow. Here are some examples of past student work...

Homework Assignment #1: Household Appliance Due Sept. 10th

Here are some examples of past student work for the first homework assignments, the household appliance. Please use vine charcoal on drawing paper. Remember to consider the whole page. I want to see the whole page covered in charcoal except for the highest of highlights. Remember to ground the object with shadows and consider the space behind it to put the object in a space. Please spray it with the workable fixative as vine charcoal is very soft and will get all over everything. This assignment is due September 10th. I expect that you spend 8 to 10 hours on this assignment.

Tomorrow's Class (8/29)

Please make sure to bring vine charcoal, a kneaded eraser and a pad of newsprint to class tomorrow. We are going to jump right in. It has come my attention that the bookstore might be out of newsprint. I would suggest going to Michael's or, if you cannot make it there, to get your pad of drawing paper in the bookstore and using it on the first day until you can get your newsprint.
